Chapter 01Step by step
Add your first link in Edit profile
Open your profile
Where to click: Profile
In the app, it’s your picture at the bottom right of the screen.
Open your links
Where to click: Edit profileLinks
Tap Edit profile, then Links.
Add the URL
Where to click: Add external link
On Android, the button reads Add link. Paste the full address, then tap Done.
Test it as a visitor
Open your profile from a second account and tap the link.
Phone only
Steps from Instagram Help (opens in a new tab) for iPhone and Android, checked October 27, 2026. It says the feature isn’t available on computers.
Your bio text is a separate field under Edit profile, then Bio: up to 150 characters, per Instagram’s bio article (opens in a new tab). Use it to say why someone should tap.
Chapter 02Several links
Add up to 5 links and set the order
Instagram Help says a profile can show up to 5 links, and anyone, on or off Instagram, can see them. Add each one the same way.
Reorder your links
Where to click: Edit profileLinksOptionsReorder links
Tap and hold a link, drag it up or down, then tap Done (Accept on Android).
Remove a link
Where to click: Edit profileLinks
Tap the link, then Remove link. At 5, remove one before adding another.
Give the top slot one job
People see your links in the order you set. Put the step that starts a sale first, and cut links nobody needs.
Chapter 03Selling by DM
What to link when you sell by DM
If your sales start in the DMs and close on a call, your bio link has one job: start the right conversation. Three ways:
Booking page
- Best for
- People who already know your offer and just want a time.
- Limits
- No conversation first: questions and poor fits book anyway, or leave.
ig.me DM link
- Best for
- People with a question before they buy. Make yours with our DM link generator.
- Limits
- Opening it sends nothing. Meta (opens in a new tab) says Instagram Web doesn’t support it.
Keyword prompt
- Best for
- A bio line like “DM GUIDE for the checklist.” A Manychat keyword trigger (opens in a new tab) replies.
- Limits
- People type the word. Set it up with the DM keyword guide.
They work together: the keyword in your bio text, then the DM link and the booking page in your links.
Chapter 04Measure
Know which link brings leads
A tap isn’t a lead. Tag each link, so the conversations and calls it starts carry its name:
| Method | Use it on | What you learn | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| UTM parametersUse it on: Website and booking page linksWhat you learn: Visits from your bio, in your analyticsLimits: Counts visits, not DMs | Website and booking page links | Visits from your bio, in your analytics | Counts visits, not DMs |

| Plain ig.me linkUse it on: A quick DM linkWhat you learn: Not which link they tappedLimits: Opens the chat, runs nothing, not on Instagram Web | A quick DM link | Not which link they tapped | Opens the chat, runs nothing, not on Instagram Web |
https://example.com/book?utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=bioGoogle says to always set utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. Values are case sensitive: reuse the same ones, in lowercase, or your reports split.
Read it at the call
Taps show interest. Booked calls show the link works. Follow the whole path, post to call, in our Instagram lead generation guide.

Chapter 05Fix
If your bio link is missing or won’t open
Use the iPhone or Android app: Instagram Help says this isn’t available on computers. Update the app, then look again.
On Android, it’s called Add link. Instagram Help allows 5 links: at 5, remove one before adding another.
Instagram Help adds websites under Links, apart from the bio text. Add it there, then tap it from another account.
Meta says ig.me links aren’t supported on Instagram Web. Test on a phone, and keep a website link for desktop visitors.
Per Manychat, it works only in the Instagram mobile app, and new contacts need Conversation Starters turned on.
